After years of service, Margaret finds her niche as a lead volunteer.

Margaret has been a volunteer with CaringBridge since 2005 and was the Volunteer of the Year in 2007.  She started volunteering by assisting staff with administrative office tasks. Later, Margaret took on more responsibility by monitoring sites, a virtual volunteering opportunity where she could easily log in to CaringBridge to ensure that terms of use were being followed. Margaret said, “The opportunity allowed me the flexibility of working from home and on the weekends.” 

Margaret didn’t find CaringBridge in the typical way through using the service.  She was looking to volunteer and valued the mission of connecting family and friends.  Margaret is motivated by the 'behind the scenes' activities. “There are so many different options and a variety of things to do.”  She’s written thank you cards, attended sponsored events and served as a CaringBridge representative.

In her new role as a lead volunteer, Margaret helps to place other volunteers in speaking opportunities around the nation.  She works on this project with Ronda Maurer, CaringBridge Volunteer Specialist.  “We work so well together, I couldn't ask for a better mentor, peer and friend!”
